At the Artisan Festival this year, there was an electric bike test track in the East Gardens, where visitors could come along and try one out for size!
Three of the leading bike brands in the UK, Ridgeback, Specialized and Gocycle joined us in June, and visitors could chat to them about which option could be best for them. There was a selection of electric bikes from traditional town bikes that are ideal for leisure rides with friends and family, through to sporty folding options for anyone looking to take the sweat of out of commuting by bike.

Gocycle’s mission is simple: to create the world’s best urban electric bikes. A task which began in 2002 when former McLaren Cars Limited design engineer Richard Thorpe established his own business, Karbon Kinetics, to embark upon creating his two-wheeled electric dream. Today that dream is a reality with Gocycle renowned the world over for its innovative products, no compromises approach, stylish designs and pioneering spirit.
Since 1983, Ridgeback has been creating some of the highest quality bikes on the market with traditional step-through city bikes, off-road ready models with front suspension, and even cargo bikes for transporting items around town or the little ones to school. Used for everything from round-the-world adventures to the daily commute, with Ridgeback you can be sure you’ll find the electric bike for you, kitted out with the latest tech to open up your world.
So, when we developed our first electric bike in 2009, we knew it had to ride and feel like a great bike first - something we’d really love to ride ourselves. We wanted you to feel like you were on a “regular” bike, just with the extra “oomph” of our Specialized e-bike Technology System. With the best possible combination of power, range, and usability, our comfort e-bikes let you go farther and faster than you ever thought possible.
